19th September 2006: A message from Donald McNab, Chairman of Friends of Scottish Rugby (FOSR)

Dear Scots in London (SIL) (the largest Scottish network organisation in London - approaching 4,000+ dynamic, passionate Scots and growing fast),

You are cordially invited to attend this years' The Friends of Scottish Rugby Gala Dinner to be held at The Brewery (former historic Whitbread Brewery), Chiswell Street, London, EC, on Thursday 2nd November 2006 from 7pm. The event has been running successfully for several years, the last two years events have been particularly good, attracting capacity crowds of around 400 supporters. This is largely due to the great enthusiasm of Donald McNab, Stewart and Bruce, the organisers, who together with great speakers, super food, a smashing company and a very exciting auction led by Ian Robertson, BBC rugby commentator and former Scotland rugby star, help to make it a wonderfully high-spirited evening - black tie/highland dress, suitable for corporate entertaining. Previous dinners have raised considerable amounts of money (GBP50k plus) for rugby in Scotland and the new London Academy at London Scottish FC. I hope you and yours can join fellow Scots In London and FOSR for what is surely set to be another fab FOSR gala dinner - booking details below.

Now, here's the official message from Donald McNab, charismatic Chairman of Friends of Scottish Rugby: "Booking time and fundraising for the Gala Dinner has come around and I'm writing to ask you if you will be able to take or sponsor a table, or be coming on your own or with guests. The cost is GBP140 per person, or GBP1,300 per table of 10, including wine and a 4 course meal with the Haggis presentation.

The guest speaker is Robbie Glen , the former Governor of Barlinnie Prison, a quite exceptional speaker, certainly up to the standards of Peter Mitchell last year.

We have some quite outstanding auction prizes this year. If you have any further auction prizes you can offer, we'd be grateful to hear from you. I do hope you can support us, especially after the success of the National Team this year, and look forward to hearing from you."
