Dear Scots in London (SIL) (3,000+ dynamic, passionate Scots and growing fast),

You're encouraged to support the historic Scottish Regiments at this fitting farewell to the historic Highland Regiments. Tickets are selling like hot tattie scones so please join Scots in London et al. - see booking details below. A Scottish spectacle awaits...

Historic Event: Highland Heritage at The Royal Hospital Chelsea

Details: Display of Massed Pipes and Drums and Scottish Military Bands on Thursday 15th June starting at 7.15pm. The gates of The Royal Hospital will open at 6pm so why not bring along a picnic to enjoy before or after the display. There will be champagne and whisky bars. Raffle with great prizes.

This is a historic event! The Highlanders went to war in Iraq called The Highlanders (Seaforth, Gordons and Camerons) and came home as the 4th Battalion the Royal Regiment of Scotland. They have lost their famous stags head cap badge. They were unable to have a name-changing parade in Iraq so this event marks the end of the 250 year era of Highland Regiments and the begining of a new one. Please come to celebrate their passing and welcome a new dawn at this historical watershed. Pipe Major Venters, who will be on parade at Chelsea, has composed a tune especially for the event called Highland Heritage and it will have its world premiere at Chelsea and General Jeremy McKenzie, as a former Queen's Own Highlander officer and now Governor of the Royal Hospital, has offered it as fitting venue for this final fling.

Charity: In Aid of The Highlanders Regimental Museum at Fort George (Charity Number SC0018068), by Inverness - the only place where the names of the former Scottish Highland Regiments (Seaforth, Gordon, Camerons etc) and their histories can be remembered, following the amalgamation of all Scottish Infantry Regiments to form The Royal Regiment of Scotland in 2006.

Line Up: The bands taking part are:

Pipes and Drums of The Highlanders, 4th Battallion The Royal Regiment of Scotland

Pipes and Drums of The Queen's Own Highlanders Regimental Association

Drums and Pipes of The Gordon Highlanders Regimental Association

Band of the Scots Guards

Military Band of The Royal Regiment of Scotland

Cost: Tickets are GBP 25 each. Please send cheques payable and/or donations to "Highland Heritage Appeal" to the address below.
